It’s Ground Hog Day!!!

Remember that old Bill Murray movie “Ground Hog Day”? I know, stupid question. It is only on cable 89 times a week, especially around the actual day (holiday?), and is probably one of the most referenced movies ever, second only to most to the awesomely underrated 1995 Keanu Reeves classic, “Johnny Mnemonic”.
Anyway, I digress. As you likely already know, in Ground Hog Day, Bill Murray is forced to live the same day over and over and over until he gets it right (I think that day was Flag Day, but I do not recall for certain). He is not even allowed to die by whatever higher power has put him in this position. Once he finally gets Flag Day right he is allowed to move on to the next day. The scary thing about this; how often do our own lives delve into being our own personal version of Ground Hog Day. We end up doing the same routine over and over, day after day, month after month, year after year, decade after……you get the idea. However, unlike Bill Murray we do not have the luxury of not getting any older. In fact it is the opposite, each day moves us closer to the inevitability of the clock running out on our limited time on Earth. The added tragedy is often, unless we are really paying attention, we often miss what our higher power is trying to tell us we should be doing during this time to “get it right”.
The point to this, don’t fall into the Ground Hog Day trap. Set your goals and what you want to accomplish. Determine what legacy you want to leave behind. Each day take steps to move towards that goal. Be focused each and every day on the big picture.
